Hurley Medical Center
"My initial contact at Hurley Medical Center was with the pre-admission testing staff. My husband and I both knew immediately that this friendly, but very professional, group of people had their act together. Everything from checking in, breathing tests, blood draws, and meeting with the internal medicine specialist, Dr. Minasian, went smooth as silk, and all bases were covered. The day I went in for my surgery, they were ready for me in every way. The nursing staff was friendly, they all expressed their happiness and good wishes for me, got me all set for surgery, and I was on my way. Wonderful. I didn't have time to get scared or worked up, they were ready to rock and roll! The OR staff was so proficient, the anesthesiologist was fun, and I love Dr. Obeid...I did sleep through surgery :-). They communicated well with my husband, I got to see before I went to my room, then he was there and they got me settled...I had a wonderful room mate, our nurses were extremely attentive and responsive and all so encouraging. When it came time for any changes, like cleared to be off the monitor, time to go for testing, cleared for liquids, cleared to take oral pain meds, have IV discontinued...and time to go home...man, they got it done. It was great. My overall comment about Hurley Medical Center is that if I have to go to a hospital again, I would ask to go to Hurley...and I live by and have worked at the University of Michigan Hospital."

Farouck Obeid
"Dr. Obeid is wonderful. My first impression was that he has a nice sense of humor and is very friendly. He's comfortable with who he is and what he's doing, and he makes it clear that he relies on God in his personal and professional life. He doesn't preach, he just states the facts. Dr. Obeid expects a lot of his staff and they are very good. My husband and I were very impressed with everyone after spending the whole day at the Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss up in Flint. Future patients should know that he does not tolerate smoking. He made sure I understood by telling me that he wouldn't do surgery on me if he couldn't trust me to not smoke. I assured him that I had quit and that I would not start up again, several times! In going over each step of surgery, Dr. Obeid spent a good portion of time on the risks and challenges of surgery. He carefully went over his own statistics and what he does to maintain his excellent record. I haven't had my surgery yet, so I'll finish this up afterwards, and we'll see if we can find anything negative or not our favorite part about having Dr. Obeid as my surgeon. :-)"

Rebecca Patrias
"Dr. Patrias has been my doctor since 1992, she is also my friend at this point. She has walked with me through minor surgery, emotional difficulties, family challenges, spider bites to heart problems. I gave Dr. Patrias the web site for ObesityHelp.com...she was thrilled, promised she would check it out and pass it on to other patients if appropriate."
