I am a newly divorced mom to 3 boys. I have had issues with weight most of my adult life. I am trying to become a healthier and more active mom for my 2 small children and I want to be very healthy to see my oldest complete high school, college and all that follows in his life.
On January 25th (my 33 birthday) I had my first appointment with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I was very nervous and hoped that my insurance would approve the surgery for me. The doctors and nurses at UIHC were amazing. They answered all my questions gave me a diet to follow and a journal to keep my food updated and sent me on my way to see how I did. I went to McDonalds after that appointment and polished off a double cheeseburger a 10 peice chicken nugget and small frie immediatly after leaving know this was my last meal of junk for life. I haven't turned back since. I have slipped here and there but nothing that I would call dangerous to my success. I had my surgery April 10, 2007 which at that time I weighed 254lbs I believe this is 18lbs less than when I went in in January. It is now June 9th and I am currently stuck at 213.4 I am looking to be down another 13.4lbs before the end of June and want to be to around 150 before my next birthday which would be my 1 year anniversary from the begining of this Journey. My final goal is to be at 135 -145 and would like to obtain that before my 1 year surgery anniversary date. Wish me luck.
