My story....well I have been overweight all of my life. I am a 41 year-old mother of a 15 year-old son. I have been called pleasingly plump, heavy, stalky, overweight and fat. I have tried every fad diet and trick of the trade. I even had my mouth wired shut when I was in the 11th grade. In 2008, my niece and I decided to make some changes. We changed our HMO to one that would approve weight loss surgery and have been on a journey since Jan 2009. After months of dragging my feet, I was referred to Dr. Klein, at South Bay Surgeons. Finally, I could see my life beginning to change. After months to testing, poking and prodding (all of which I am grateful to Dr. Klein for) I am at the point where I ready to have my surgery. I sat in the hospital yesterday with my niece who had her gastric bypass. I don't know what happened during the 12 hours that I was there, but it was like the light went on and I could finally imagine the skinny girl in me coming out. You see, since that first appointment, I have been wavering between, lap band and RNY. I have finally decided. RNY it is.
