Feeling misinformed

I've been looking at all the doctors that could possibly do my surgery with my insurance company. I have been to seminars and was led to believe that most all of the doctors at this facility do the procedure laproscopically. I finall got an appointment with a surgeon, June16th. I looked for any info that I could find about him and found that he prefers to only do procedures open. Don't get me wrong, he seems to be a good surgeon, 27 yrs experience, but I had it in my head that I could have this done laproscopically. I don't know what I want to do. I'm in a hurry because my husband leaves to Iraq this summer and trying to get the surgery while he is here with me. He really wants to be here for me. I am tired of being fat and ready to make this life change. Any words of encouragement?
