On Tuesday, April 15th, I had a laproscopic RNY at Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle, WA. The surgeon said it was textbook and went exactly as she wanted. My bowel prep apparently worked too well and I got too dehydrated. My kidneys began to shut down and they had to pump lots of saline into me. I gained 17 pounds in the hospital. I was very fluffy. I'm home now and the 17 # plus 3 # more are off. I've had very little pain. I'm tired of full liquids and am anxious to eat real food.
I was grateful to OH for sending out the little pre op messages. The one that said not to be surprised if we had buyers remorse. I know I did. I thought what the heck did I do to myself! I am grateful OH prepped me for that and normalized my feelings.
I am 3# down from when I went into the hospital and it occurred to me that for the first time in my life ... I won't ever see that weight again. It really is gone forever. What a nice thought.
