1 month post-op

Jul 24, 2011

Well, it's been 1 month since my surgery and things are looking up!  My nausea is not occurring constantly anymore.  In fact, I have gone a day or 2 recently without feeling much at all.  I have only taken the zofran once in the last week.  I found these ginger tabs from the health food store and they work too, so I take those first before resorting to the zofran.  I found that I feel nauseous when I wake up due to an empty stomach so I put crackers by my bed.  I have discovered that an empty stomach, or an over full stomach will make me nauseous so the key is to eat very small meals more frequently throughout the day.  I am also doing better with my fluids which helps too.

Unfortunately though yesterday I went to the ER.  I discovered that one of my wounds was open and had a little pus in it.  The doc said it wasn't bad.  Infection was localized.  They can't stitch it closed though or the wound will become more seriously infected.  He said it just has to heal from the inside out.  That means I will have a larger scar but I'm okay with that!

My blood pressure has gone back up though, so I have to get back on my bp medicine at least temporarily until I lose a little more weight.  I think my initial low blood pressure was from the surgery or something.

Overall, I am feeling better and am happy I had the surgery.  My energy levels have come back up and I have lost 21 lbs so far
