**1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF SURGERY..YIPPEEEE** -85 LBS and -93.5 INCHES! I can't begin to tell you the changes that have happened to me this last year. So many were so gradual I didn't see them, some were dramatic. If you can imagine a life from a wheelchair for 8 years, then you can feel MY excitement over being FREE from it. I had not been in our back yard (it had too much slope in it then) for over 3 yrs. Last summer I planted a flower bed out there and it is beautiful. Heck before surgery I couldn't bend over enough to plant flowers without it shutting off my air supply!! I feel alive again, I have lost 80% of my excess weight, my blood sugar level is normal, I take less medicine for my neuropathy, post polio symtoms have improved, cholesterol levels are low, blood pressure is good and I have shrunk!! Sex life is wonderful.. YES......this was one of the best decisions in my life and today I am celebrating, freezing today but going out anyways!! I want to thank Dr. Babineau for being a wonderful surgeon and making this happen, and my loving husband Gary, who has been so supportive!! Most of all I want to thank my God because "By the Grace of God, Go I". I will continue to exercise and watch my diet because I am not finished improving myself! God Bless all of you and wishing you a smooth Journey!!

Rita, Thank you for your support and wise words. It means a lot to me. Seems like you have had some ups and downs. I'm an emotional-type person and could seem myself in some of your story. Actually your slower losing rate probably kept your loose skin to a minimum. And the inches you lost are so much of a better measure. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat. And you don't want to loose muscle. Thank you for listing the 'eat out' foods. I've copied them for after my surgery. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." Phil 4:6 Sandi/KY

Rita you are a wonder! Thanks for your wonderful poem. After reading your profile page and seeing your pictures I think you just glow with the warmth and goodness you have inside. I guess what I am trying to say is that you radiate an inner glow and it touches all those around you. You look terrific and keep up the good work. Looking forward to joining you on the losing side!!

Rita, thanks so much for your kind message. I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be. I have the best surgeon there is, our Lord Jesus Christ. I have faith that He will guide Dr. Denning's hands and be with me though the whole surgery. I do appreciate everyone's prayers, though. Never can have enough of those! :) Take care and God bless.
