The Loss of Our Leader

May 02, 2007

May 2, 2007. Today, was our last day for our support group meeting at one of the local hospitals.  We had a farewell meeting with our surgeon and the support group staff.  The reason for the dismissal of the support group was because of medicare and medicaid restraints we were told.  We were fortunate enough that with the grace of god, we had him for four and a half years.   Thank god for one thing, he is still going to work at the other hospital for now.  Like everything else in life, nothing is forever.

The meetings were always very informative and cordial at the same time.  We were always allowed to speak our minds and speak freely of what ever issue was concerning us at the time.  Doc always answered our questions with ease and caution.  Sometime there were sensitive questions asked, but the  questions were always answered.

We had many different types of guest that helped us along in our journey.  I am very disappointed about the loss of the meeting because this was a great outing for me and it allowed me to mingled with others who were traveling the same path as I.  I do not drive and I have a friend that picks me up to go to the meetings.  We will have to get a new venture.

I believe that I am going to take on the task of starting a group meeting again at my home.  I had started one four years ago, but with the girls graduating high school and prom stuff, it was quite busy.  Now they are about to graduate college and leave the nest for a while.  This way, I can transfer my addiction from food, to helping others.  Well let me go, I am too sadden to go on right now.  I will continue later.
