Hey Everyone!!!
My name is Stacie and I am 24 years old. I am currently over 350 lbs. I have been heavy all of my life. I started this quest for the surgery about 3 years ago. I have been going through diet after diet since I was in middle school. I have BCN HMO and let me tell you it sucks 
They have a policy that you have to have 12 consecutive months of diet and exercise followed by your doctor. I am here to tell you that it is not easy. I was denied the surgery the first time in August of 2005. It has been almost two years now. I have joined two different gyms. I even tried BCN's Weigh to Go program. Not that I have been able to stick to everything, but I keep trying.
Now it is time for me to write my grievance letter to the insurance company. Wow never thought this would happen. I thought for sure I would have been approved the first time. I guess when your younger and don't have as many health problems as others they look at that as well. The way I feel is if I don't do something about the weight now then I can only imagine the problems I am going to have in the future.
Another bummer in my start for this again, I was going through the CORI centers of Michigan. They have now been bought out by Bariax Clinics. They do not participate with my insurance. I found a doctor close to home I think that I am going to check out.
