I have been working on having RNY for a long time now. Or at least it seems. I was denied by HAP and appealed and was denied again. Then I contacted Walter Lindstrom and low and behold I was approved for surgery with Dr. Genaw pending the Psychiatric evaluation with Dr. Frank. I have a lower bmi than most surgical candidates. I do however have many issues which are aggravated by the extra weight which is why I want surgery to begin with. I realize that RNY is to improve overall health but secretly, I am also hoping it will help with the chronic neck and back pain. I have approximately 10 discs which are buldging or herniated and a meningioma within the vetebral canal. The meningioma is estrogen fed and it is possible at my age that It will not have to be removed. Obesity also increases estrogen levels!! I am waiting for the results of my psych eval. The waiting is killing me. My recommendation for anyone going for an eval would be to ask prior to leaving about what the doctors thoughts are etc. I don't know why I didn't. Fear, of being denied I think. Will post more as it happens. Take care.
