Morbiid Obesity coding

Anyone have any issues w/ your doctors coding everything as morbid obesity and the ins company giving you issue with how its being billed? My ins requires referalls for specialists and special things like wls. So now when I go in for this or that w/ my pcp and its coded as morbid obesity I have to jump through hoops to get it billed properly. Grrrr.

Yes, in fact, I am in a battle with my insurance right now. I was a self pay for the surgery but they said they would pay for all my post-op "stuff" labs, etc. and are backing out. I think it is because it is still being coded as morbid obesity and I am not anymore. I am on vacation right now, so I will have to see what's in the mail when I get home. good luck Lori
