Home Safe!

Well, I've been home for almost a week now and am doing pretty well.  My mother has been staying with us, helping out, but it's so difficult on my daughter and I just wanted to be alone in my home, so now I'm finally free!

I woke up after surgery and thought "Great! I'm alive!"  I immediately wanted to get up and go to the washroom, but the wouldn't let me in recovery and I wouldn't use a bed pan, so I waited until I got back in the room. 

They were still rolling me into the room when the woman across from me who had foot surgery was waving and calling out, "Hi!  What's your name."  It got worse from then.  I was in a room with two lovely ladies who were very kind, but loud and agrumentative with the staff.  They got phone calls and visitors all day long.  One woman had 6 sons and they all visited with wives and kids in tow, bringing in all kinds of food.  They constantly knocked my curtain open.  If the curtain was open they'd walk by and stare at me.  The kids would just stick their heads in and stare.  At one point I couldn't hear the nurse who was standing beside me and they only had 2 visitors each!  Both nights I was there the had to be reminded that visiting hours was over.  Friday the doctor told me I could go home Saturday if I "passed gas".  Not exactly easy in a room full of people.  By Saturday afternoon I was in my bed in tears.  I just wanted some quiet to sleep.

Finally, the doctor I had been waiting on all day got out of surgery and gave my release order and my family came to pick me up.  I got home to my fabulous bed and sleep 10 hours solid.  I've had no problem with the foods I've been eating,  increasing my walks and have yet to take ANY pain meds since leaving hospital.  I think I'm doing amazingly well and am looking forward to my pureed food next Thursday.

In a day or two I'll start driving again and life will begin in full on it's new normal on the loosers benchl  I lost 18 lbs on the Optifast and now I've lost a total of 26lbs!  Just taking it easy and making sure a get better the right way!
