Jeffrey A. Hunter

"I found the Doctor to be professional, caring, experienced and thorough. The nurse tends to be very busy and sometimes it is difficult to connect with him. However, once I reach him he is always prompt about taking care of whatever is needed. Dr. Hunter is very clear that while he is an experienced lap surgeon, he does not have an extensive history of performing this surgery. Because of that, I believe he is more cautious and thorough and I appreciate that aspect of his program. He fully addressed, and emphasized all the risks of this surgery. He will start with LAP but if there are any issues he will go OPEN. For my second meeting, he wants my spouse with me - he feels it is imperative that the partner be supportive and fully understand the risks of this surgery. I will meet with the dietican, have a stress test and other workups prior to surgery. There will be continued follow up with the dietician as well as with Dr. Hunter. So far, overall, I am pleased. I believe surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important. SURGERY SCHEDULED: May 16, 2003 May 19, 2003. I'm post surgery now and wanted to provide a little more feedback. Dr. Hunter was wonderful!! My sister was up from CA for my surgery (she had it done in 12/02) and even she was impressed by his thoroughness. He did everything exactly as promised. He had a second surgeon assisting and all went well. I would highly recommend Dr. Hunter. "

"The Dr was awesome, the addt'l surgeon and the anastesiology team were great. However, the nursing staff left much to be desired. While they were all friendly, there was a lot of confusion. Examples: 45 minute response time at 2AM when I pressed the call button. A nurses aid spilled my ibuprofren and never notified anyone. Her comment to me was "I hope that wasn't important" One nurses aid said I could not have my pain meds when I asked for them 3 hrs into the next round. The next nurse who saw me in obvious pain said I was supposed to have been receiving them every two hours. On the evening shift no less than 30 min response to any call. There was a mess up with my pain medication and a full syringe was left sitting on my tray for 2 hrs. When I called again and asked about it there was a new nurse who didn't have a clue what it was or if I needed it. It then disapprered with that nurse and never came back so I have no clue what happened. Two times dietary served me liquid diet with SUGAR~! Regular jello and coffee w/sugar. We requested iced tea got coffee. No one ever asked if I'd like to wash up, shower etc. Only 1 nurse offered to help me out of bed and get me walking despite the fact that we know this is crucial. Only one time did a nurse have me use the spirometer for lung capacity. The day of discharge I was finally given a spreadsheet that told me what my intake should have been the prior 2 days. Day late, dollar short as they say. The transport staff literlly slammed my bed into every wall along the way when I had to get my G.I. test done the day after surgery. He pulled my IV line and I subsequently had an issue with the IV having to be relocated due to this. Had it not been for my family being there, I would have been in serious trouble~ I DO NOT recommend this hospital to anyone if you will be alone during this surgery."

"Not only was she thorough, but she genuinely cares!"

Edwin Tegenfeldt

"Dr. Tegenfeldt is a total people person with years of experience - leaving him a relaxed and knowledgable doctor who clearly strives to be human for anyone who sees him"
