Still dropping...though a bit slower now.

Jul 13, 2008

Wow, I am REALLY horrible about posting and keeping up.  I've just gotten so much busier than ever before.  It's kind of snuck up on me how much additional energy I have (I had a lot before the surgery).  I want to do everything with everyone...so I'm keeping my calendar full.  I am officially down 75.4lbs since 12/22/07.  I feel like I should be down at least 100lbs by now.  so, I'm a teeny bit dissapointed.  But, the scale hasn't really stopped going down. So, though I may lose slower than some..I'm still losing and exstacic about that!!  So, it's been 7 months and I have more energy, I fit in the seats at the movie theatre...comfortably and even have some wiggle room. I even, GET THIS, crossed my legs at the movies yesterday!!!!  It's not a perfect cross, but I didn't have to HOLD my leg to keep them crossed.  WOW!!  I also rode my first roller coaster ride in YEARS!!  I only rode one, but it was such an amazing releif to FIT and the belts closed & the harness fastened.  I can't wait to go back at the end of the summer and try to ride some more!  My clothes...wow, nothing fits IN A GOOD WAY.  I have some wonderful friends that have been so generous in donating their clothing to me so I don't have to walk around in baggy drawers or spend a bunch of dough to buy new clothes.  I am even going through belts like crazy.  I ifinally found some belts that have a TON of notches so I don't have to punch new holes as I continue to go down in sizes.  not sure what size I am at the moment.  I was about a 26-28 in pants and 24-26 in tops.  I know that I can now where about a 20-22 or smaller in pants and my shirts are in the 18's I think.  I need new bra's now....the twins are quickly deflating and I'm on the innermost clasp of all of my bra's and I still have too much wiggle room and cups no longer fill out at all.  I am NOT complaining by any means!  Yes, sad to lose the girls, but WAY TOO HAPPY TO CARE!  Now I walk without losing my breath, I work out 2-3x per week at curves and break a sweat.  I take walks in addition to that. I park far away at the grocery store.  I'm am definitely NOT perfect with my eating.  But, I'm not excessive either. I found that I don't dump too bad.  Which is a bummer...but, I'm ok with it.  I can have a few peices of candy (like a  NORMAL eating person would) and then I am done and satisfied...any more does make my heart race & give me the shakes or the sleepies and sometimes nausea or grouchy pouchy. same goes for carbs n'such.  My NUTRITIONIST IS THE AWESOME!!!  Kelly Elliot, COURSE CORRECTION, FOOD NAVIGATOR extraordinaire is keeping me on track and I've learned so much from her!!  My only wish is that she could come grocery shop with me and help me learn to cook. hahahahaha.  I do really hate doing both of thos things...but, it's getting better.  My partner is also amazing and in this journey he too has lost 25lbs + and is incredibly supportive, amazing and loving.  I know that if it wasn't for my friends, my family, my spouse and my nutrtiionist, this journey would be fairly miserable and probably not very succesfull. So, any success I owe to the team of people in my life.

anyway, my goal is to to lose another 75 by my anniversary date which would put me at 200lbs mark.  Man o man, I can't WAIT to be at/under 200lbs. I really have no memory of ever being under 200lbs.

I am eager to fit into knee length boots...be able to do a Zip Ride in Mexico in 2009.  Ride MANY more amusement park rides, keep my activity level up, get my photography business in gear and travel, travel, travel!!

See you next time!!  Wishing you ALL the best with your weight loss journies too!

The worst is over!!!

Feb 16, 2008

Well, I maybe not "the worst".  But really, the surgery is done, it was practically PAINLESS.  The other incredibly hard part was getting through the food restrictions my doctor and nutritionist had me on.  It wasn't "that" bad, but it was so dull only being allowed certain foods.  But, now I am on the "trial and error" where I can eat just about anything, but need to be mindful of what foods I may not be able to tolerate.  So far, there is very little I can't tolerate.  Most everything makes my new pouch gurgle, but I have kept everything down.  Sadly, I seem to be able to tolerate a good amount of sugar.  Sigh...so, I will have to still be VERY cautious of my suger/sweet intake.  I think I am doing pretty good.  I have been using controlled amounts like 1-2 mini's when I am craving a sweet.  It's actually very satisfying. That coupled with some sugar free fudgesicles and sugar free ice cream bars is allowing me to have the sweets I might crave, but in a very controlled capacity. I still log all of my food via Sparkpeople.  So, I am aware of my calorie amounts and BOY even a few peices of candy seriously adds to my limited calorie allowances (which for my nut I am supposed to stay under 500 calories).  Being under 500 calories is a challenge. Even though I can eat only small amounts, depending on what you eat, it can still quickly add up to 500 calories.  :(  So, it's a challenge, but I am learning and I'm losing!

Liquid diet SOOOO dull!!

Dec 26, 2007

Beleive me when I say I am NOT complaining about having RNY.  I am so lucky and happy to have been able to have this procedure.  But, I do miss food already and it's barely been a week since my surgery.  I am so tired of Water, Crystal Light, Broth & Jello.  I still have about a week before my follow up and drain removal.  Goooosssshhhh....I am so looking forward to soft, pureed foods just for added variety and I feel so weak.  Oh and to top it off, I have actually gained 1-2lbs!!    I am not really worried about that as I realize that is probably water retention and I did have some side effects from my I.V. that caused major swelling in my arm.  That swelling has all but dissappeared and I'm hoping that my weight will do the same over the next few days.
