Still doing well.

Feb 15, 2012

I continue to exercise, now at Planet fitness, and take all of my supplements. I see the nutritionist quarterly and have labs done atleast once per year. I'm at 172 which takes into account lots of loose skin, as I've opted to not have surgery to remove it. The docs and nutritionists are very pleased with my status and so am I.

Christmas morning going on 3 years post surgery!

Dec 25, 2010

Just over 2 1/2 years since surgery. Have lost between 180 and 185 lbs totally. More inportant than the number of pounds is the increase in mobility and quality of life. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I can walk with a cane with mild pain, can go to the gym for cardio and weight sessions a minimum of 3 times per week, never picked up a cigarette since I quit May 2006, nor a drink since 2001. I continue to follow all of the instructions regarding food, supplements, vitamins, etc given by the bariatric team. Also keep my quarterly appointments at the clinic for check-ups and B12 shots. No regrets, lots of thanks!

I'm 2 months short of 2 years since surgery. I still drink my proteins, take my vitamins and see the nutritionist. I exercise in the YMCA pool 5 days per week and at PT (elliptical, recunbent bike and stepper) 3 X's weekly. I've maintained my weight (174 lbs) and feel like a different person than the one pre-surgery. I lost over 170 lbs and never regret having the surgery. I also eat as I was prescribed by the docs after surgery! All in all, very happy ....infact, feel like a very fortunate person for having choosen this route!

I feel like the luckiest person on the planet. Have been given a second lifetime! Was work, but worth it. Am 172 lbs and any extra weight is loose skin. Am not having any surgery to remove skin unless it should become a great physical problem...which I can't see happening. Am enjoying exercising in the pool at the YMCA every morning and being able to live a normal, good quality life.

All is still going very well. I feel so grateful for this second chance to have a quality life. My labs, which I had done in the past few weeks, are great. I feel wonderful!

One year and one day post-surgery

May 05, 2009

It's a year and a day since my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I've lost essentially half of myself! I have improved my quality of life and feel like a totally different person. I not only can walk with my cane, I can walk without my cane too! I continue to follow all of my doctor's instructions, protein first, no drinking before or after eating for atleast 30 minutes, supplementing with vitamins, protein (I use Unjury mixed with UpCalD 3 or 4 times daily) and getting my B12 shot at my follow up visits every three months. In January of 2007 I weighed 350 lbs + when I had a stress test for angina....I now weight 174 lbs. I also go to the YMCA pool daily for 45 minutes to a hour to swim and exercise. My life has turned from a burden to a pleasure and I'm extremely grateful! Oh, I also quit smoking in 2006 and am grateful to have never even had a craving for a cigarette since I quit! Thanks to all for your support along the way! And good luck to those embarking on this wonderful journey!

Down to 179 lbs and feeling great. I still use my cane for stability but 95% of the pain is gone. I get nerve pain at times, but the joint pain and fatigue with every step is gone! I exercise at the YMCA pool atleast 5 days per week, take a water-aerobics class!

I've been supplementing with Centrum Children's chewable vitamins twice daily, Unjury and UpCal D atleast twice daily, b-12 shot every 3 months and lots of water. I do water aerobics 5 times weekly at the local YMCA pool. I'm down to 188 lbs from a high of 340 at my first pre-op appointment and 266 on the day of surgery. I feel great!

3 months, 1 week after surgery

Aug 11, 2008

My weight is 204 lbs now. I go to the YMCA to aqua-aerobics 5 times weekly and enjoy it very much. I often go one day of the weekend also, just to exercise for a hour. I'm feeling well and very glad I had the surgery.

2 months after surgery

Jul 05, 2008

Now, at 2 months post surgery, I'm doing well. Weight is 218 lbs and I'm tolerating the diet. Began supplementing and had my first B-12 shot recently. I see the doctor in three months, he and the dietician say I'm ahead of scheduel in losing weight.

Lots of luck to all, where ever you are in the process!
