Not a lot to say - lost more than I thoght I would, no diabetes, removed one psych med, cholesterol way low, only one knee hurting, feeling healthy. Am struggling to eat within the parameters: lost my sister 2 weeks ago and spent one whole week not leaving hospital. Didn't eat well then. But still seem to be on track or losing. Every day is a struggle though. This surgery is not the easy way out. But it is the ONLY way that worked for me and I hope to keep working it. I am so glad I did this!!!!!

Oh my! I am down 90 pounds, just got my cholesterol checked - went from 267 to 189! Got my diabetes checked - went down one whole point so I am NOWHERE near diabetic! I'm swimming 3 times a week and doing some strength owrkout at the same time. My knees are doing well - I can climb the stairs with no problem. I have energy, I can do stuff, I haven't had a bout of IBS since the surgery. I don't take lorazepam all the time to keep the anxiety down. This is Freaking Fabulous.

I saw a post from one of my buddies and he's way below his goal. My goal was 230 and I'm 226 now. I'm still scared to death I'll take up old habits and start gaining. I can't quite let go of old clothes becuase I'm sure I'll be one of the 20% who fail and gain back their weight. But sheesh! I hope not.

My husband remarked that he feels like he's having an affair because my body has changed so much! Boy, is sex better. He's my workout buddy so has lost weight as well and gained muscle and stamina.

Of course, my bipolar problem is not gone and I do still struggle with that. But I feel sooooooo much better!

I wouldn't suggest this surgery to someone who was just overweight. It is too hard on the body. But for someone like me whose BMI was close to 50, this is the shit!

I am so thankful and hope I can keep it up.

Tomorrow is the big day

Jun 02, 2011

One of my goals was tro make it through the clear liquid only pre surgical diet and I'm made it until 3;30pm with no problems so far. I've read some posts, went out to get a medicine that I got compounded into liquid form so I can take it after surgery, ran some other errands then came home to drink the magnesium citrate. They said it works in about 30-40 minutes but I've not felt a thing.

I got antsy about my surgery time but it seems they called my cell number to leave the message. I go in at 9:30 for intake and 11:30 for the surgery. Still very excited.

LOVE the support from friends! Thank you all!!!

Only 4 days until surgery day. Woo Hoo!!!!! I'd be counting the hours but they didn't give me the surgery time yet.   I can't wait. I am so thankful for all the wisdom, information and support on OH.

If I hit a "what have I done?" moment, I want to remember how I feel right now.
If I hit a stall, I want to remember the post about what is happening physiologically and know that it will go away.
If I want to lie in bed afterward I want to remember the mantra I see so often on this site:sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk
As I do this I want to remember that I had a BMI of 47.7, that I had no energy, my knees hurt, I had co moribidities and I want to feel good about making a positive change in my life.

96 hours and then surgery...yee bub! here I come.
