I have been overweight all of my life except for a few brief periods in my teens and my 20's. I think in my teens I went the opposite direction and became anorexic, but I have always had an eating disorder of some sort. I remember in kindergarten all the girls talking about their weight and I was ashamed that I weighed 20 more than they did. It starts so young, the comparison thing with women.

Anyway, I was relatively thin when I got pregnant with my first, but got pre-eclampsia and gained a 100 pounds. Second baby, gained 50 and another 15 with my third. Having babies is rough on your body, especially when you don't have much ambition to change the way you are.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to have this surgery. I approached it with much fear and trepidation and now that I have done it, I am not sure that I thought about the consequences as much as I should have, but in the long run, I will be able to join the rest of the human race in this wonderful journey called life.
