Years Later....the saga continues.

I last wrote in August 2007, when my son Adam was 5 months old. He is almost 5 years onld now and I have had another child, Lena who will be 2 in February. Childbearing is behind me now so I am serious this time about getting to the surgery, better health and better fashion. lol.
I have had my surgical consult with Dr. Anne Lidor at Johns Hopkins Bayview. She seems serious and competent. I have begun my six moths of physician supervised weight loss with my PCP, Dr. Yasmeen Ahmed. Dr. Ahmed was not initially supportive however for improving my obesity related health issues - hypertension, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol - she is going along with my desire to have bariatric surgery.
My weight has increased since 2007, hovering around 293 pounds give or take. I hit a non-pregnant high of 301 one day a few months ago. My weight seems to fluctuate quite a bit on a daily basis. When I was preganant with my daughter I went as high as 299 but never over the 300 mark,
Please wish me luck, pray for me, etc. This time it needs to happen.

Today I played with the BMI calculator to find out how much weight I could lose and remain morbidly obese so that I can qualify for a lap band. I could lose about 20 pounds. I had a silly conversation with myself - What if I lose 30 pounds and keep it off? I will disqualify myself for surgery and still be fat. I will only lose 20 pounds, not more. This seems insane to me but so does eating everything under the sun so that I will have no problem qualifying.
