Hello All!

Just wanted to let you all know that my surgery went very well.  I had no problems at all.  Just one teeny tiny one.  When they were trying to put in the IV before the surgery, they weren't able to.  Guess because I was dehydrated.  I had to be stuck 9 times and they finally had to put it in my jugglar vein but when they told me that I got very nervous.  Thanks goodness the anestesiologist gave me some gas and put me to sleep before he did it!
I woke up from my surgery in a little pain.  They gave me a morphine pump.  It seemed like the only thing the morphine did was make me sleep, and then I would wake up in pain again. It didn't seem to control the pain as well for me.  Finally after a day, they took me off of that and started giving me the liquid lortab and it worked much better.  I was able to get up out of the bed and I walked the halls so many times! The nurses were so proud. I was determined to do awesome.  Once I went home, I only used the pain meds for a couple more days and have since been off of them.  This surgery was really easy compared to my c section, that's for sure!
I handled the two week liquid diet awesomely.  Let me tell you, I love them sugar free popsicles!
I have been on the pureed diet for a week now and it's just now getting easier.  I was having a hard time getting in all my fluids and protein, but it is finally getting better.  I can't wait to start soft foods next week! i want to chew!
I have only been walking so far and with the pre-op diet and two week check up after surgery, I have lost a total of 43 lbs so far! that's 43 pounds in 6 weeks! isn't that crazy?  I am feeling great and starting to get my energy level up and couldn't be feeling any better. I'm so excited about my journey.

yay!

Nov 30, 2007

As you read below, my surgery date was scheduled for December 3rd (2007).  That isn't going to happen.  They pushed back the date to December 6th because they found H.pylori (bacteria) in my stomach.  just a minor set back so i didn't mind.  i went ahead with my dietician appointment, my physical therapy appointment, my pre op orientation, and just returned from my pre op appointment with my doctor.  everything was going great, we signed consent papers, was briefed and about to leave the room when they asked the magical question if i had any questions...........so i did. i asked them since i have to come back and do the breath test to be cleared of the h. pylori on dec 5th (the day before my surgery) i wanted to make sure that the acid reducer that i had been taking wasn't going to interfere with the test.  they said yes it would. i wasn't supposed to be taking it. i was supposed to stay clear of any of that for 14 days! so now a huge set back to me...they rescheduled my surgery again for dec 17th. a week before christmas! im very upset because i have worked so damn hard for this for 4 years and it just feels like it's not going to happen! i have to stay on my preop diet for 14 more days which sucks because my stomach is still the same size and im hungry! i can do this though. my biggest fear is that when i go back to do the breath test on the 14th then im going to still show signs of the bacteria and i wont be able to have surgery or something..............damn damn damn. im depressed.
