Okay, so its been a while!

Feb 19, 2014

Hi Everyone, it has been a very very long time since I have been on OH and it isn't because I don't like OH.  Me and my life has been busy and hectic. I am still facilitating a WLS Back-on-Track (1+ years post op) and an everyone support group meeting on the 2nd Saturday of every month. The OC WLS Support Group meeting is held in a Kaiser facility, however, you do not have to be a Kaiser patient to attend the support group meeting(s).  For more information, just look at my OH page and/or email me at [email protected]. You can also bring support people with you.  The class has NO fees.  Obesity Help will be at my March 8, 2014 support group meeting to discuss and provide a demonstration of their website.  I am hoping this will get my group members onto OH's site and me too! Have a great day! Terry

TIME FOR AN UPDATE 10/12/2010

Oct 12, 2010

Hello Everyone! I hope this email finds all of you happy and healthier.

I continue to faciliate my OC WLS Support Group on the 2nd Saturday of each month in Orange, CA. The group continues to grow in numbers and lessens in size. It is great! Last month we had about 72 attendees and this month I stopped counting at 51.

I started going to hitthemarkfitness (beach body workout) two days ago and my body hurts everywhere!  I knew I was out of shape, just didn't know how much. It is a tough 5:30 a.m. workout, but it is worth the soreness/stiffness especially if it keeps me from going off the successful WLS journey. For those of you who know me, know that I love See's candy.  However, I don't think I will ever touch it again and if I should it will be a very long time from now because the workouts are killing me and those pieces of very rich, high calorie candies are just not worth it. Instead, I am back to my good snacks like yogurt and strawberries or blueberries, string cheess and PROTEIN comes FIRST.

I missed the last LB Coffee because I attended my son Joe's and his fiance Alyssa's going away party.  They moved near Austin Texas. I hope to make it to this month's meeting.  Not sure if it will continue to be on the 4th Saturday or not, especially since the last Saturday in October is Halloween eve.

Wishing everyone continued success on their amazing weight loss surgery (WLS) journey!

July 2010 Update

Jul 08, 2010

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update, espcially since I corrected my account to reflect that I had an RNY and not lap band and/or sleeve.  Not sure how the information changed.  I probably did it inadvertently and never even knew it until a couple days ago when I was looking at my account and profile.

I am almost three (3) years out.  Dr. Zorn performed my surgery on August 10, 2007.  My highest weight 286, My current weight fluctuates between 156 - 160 and my goal is 140. In December 2009, I have a tummy tuck, breast augmentation/lift and am doing very well. I love my plastic surgeon because he is patient and safety is number one with him.

I continue to facilitate my support group, OC WLS Support Group, on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Kaiser located at 200 N. Lewis, Bldg. 1, Orange, CA 92868 (cross streets: Chapman and Lewis).  This meeting is for anyone who wants to attend whether or not pre-op, post-op or just thinking about losing weight. You do NOT have to be a Kaiser patient.  Also, the people who attend this support group are fun and we all learn from each other.

On July 16, 2010, I will have my left ear drum reconstructed due to infection and deterioration.  I should only be out of work for a couple of weeks and definitely plan to continue with my August Support Group.  The next support group meeting is Saturday, July 10, 2010.

Wishing everyone an amazing wls journey.  And for those who are not having wls or might be waiting then I am sending you best wishes in whatever decision you make.  Each person should make their own decision as to what they want to do relative to losing weight and/or maintaining weight because each person is unique and individual. Whatever decision you make is the right decision.

Hugs to All,
Terry

May 21-22, 2010 OH Event/Plastic Surgeon Works with Insurance

May 10, 2010

Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share with everyone that Dr. Bain, Plastic Surgeon, will be one of the four plastic surgeons at the ObesityHelp Event on May 21-22, 2010 in Costa Mesa.  Dr. Richard Lee (my plastic surgeon), Dr Agha and Dr. Katz will also be at the OH Event.

You do not have to be a weight loss surgery (WLS) patient to attend the OH Event in May 2010.

Dr. Bain's talk on Saturday, May 22 at 2:55 pm in the Pacific Ball Room will be about working with insurance companies to obtain approval for plastic surgery.  Dr. Bain works with his patients and patients insurance companies to help the patient gain approval for plastic surgery especially after WLS.

All the plastic surgeons will be at the OH Event.  It is really important to speak with several plastic surgeons before making a final decision as to who you will have as your plastic surgeon.  Each surgeon is unique and offers different thoughts and opinions and has knowledge, skills and abilities to assist you in your quest for plastic surgery after WLS.

You can sign up for the OH Event scheduled for May 21-22, 2010 at the Hilton in Costa Mesa by going to obeistyhelp.com and clicking on community and then events.  You will get a discount on your tickets if you use my code row10online.

Wishing you all success on whatever weight loss adventure that you seek.

Also, I facilitate a Support Group the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Kaiser Office located at 200 N. Lewis St., Bldg. 1, Orange, CA 92868.  This support group is for anyone who would like to attend and you do NOT have to be a Kaiser patient to attend this meeting.

Hugs
Terry

TIME FOR AN UPDATE

Mar 22, 2010

Hi Everyone! I decided it was time for an update on terryrow61. I am married and have been married 33+ years.  I am blessed with two sons and three granddaughters.
My highest weight was 286.  Dr. Zorn, PBSMG, did my RNY (gastric bypass) on August 10, 2007.  I strongly believe that if it weren't for this surgery I would be in deep trouble medically, physically, emotionally and mentally speaking.  My current weight fluctuates between 152-156.  I am just amazed about the entire weight loss surgery (WLS) journey especially since it appears that I am not as shy as I thought I was.  I am more confident and feel so much better about myself.
I recently, on December 30, 2009, had plastic surgery on my girls and belly.  The plastic surgeon is awesome!  His number one priority is safety. Although I am only almost 3-months post op from plastic surgery, I am so happy!  I look in the mirror and wonder, "who is that" and then my hubby says,  "its my beautiful wife".  Yes, I told him to get new glasses.
I am an ObesityHelp and Pacific Bariatric Support Group Leader.  I am not an expert; however, I make sure anyone who wants, needs or is just interested in knowing and learning about various weight procedures has a place to come.  I have been very lucky the last couple of months with speakers.  The speakers have included a plastic surgeon; Bariatric Advantage, well known for their vitamins, minerals, protein and etc; and an Aqua Physical Therapist.  Although I have speakers, no one is expected to join and/or purchase anything.  The speakers are at the group meeting to help us learn more along our wls journey.  My group, Orange County WLS Support Group meets at 9:30 am the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Kaiser located at 200 N. Lewis St., Bldg. 1, Orange, CA 92868 (cross streets: Chapman and Lewis).  The room will be posted on the large white pad as you come in the entrance. I am definitely open to suggestions, ideas and recommendations for discussion topics.  You do NOT have to be a Kaiser patient to attend the OC WLS Support Group.
We have also had protein sampling, which is one of my favorite times because everyone can learn from everyone about the various proteins out there whether it be liquid or solid.
Friday, March 26th, is our day trip to the Doctors Show.  The show is sending a bus to pick us up at 6:45 am at the Kaiser in Orange (address is noted above).  The bus will take us to the Doctors Show and brings us back after the Doctors Show taping.  If you are interested in attending, but have not confirmed a seat on the bus then please PM me or email me at [email protected].
Well, I guess this is a long enough chapter for now. Wishing everyone happiness and health.
Hugs
Terry

Good Saturday Morning and Update

Jan 16, 2010

Good Morning everyone.  Just wanted to provide an update on myelf.  I had RNY by Dr. Zorn, of Pacific Bariatrics Surgical Medical Group (PBSMG) on August 10, 2007. I am so thankful to Dr. Zorn, the other PBSMG doctors and staff for the new lease on life.  My heaviest weight was 286.  I am currently 154.
I had plastic surgery on December 30th for my ta ta's including augmentation and lift, abs and butt lift by Dr. Lee http://www.newportcosmeticsurgery.com .  I have been doing pretty good and really like the confident and comfortable feeling that I felt the first time I met Dr. Lee.  I went in for three consultations (all free).  The first consultation was for me alone, the second I took my husband and the third consultation was for pre-op.  Dr. Lee is awesome.  I plan to have my thigh and arm lifts in about 18 - 24 months and then I will be totally a new person.
My hubby has said and continues to tell me that he loves me just the way I am and that he doesn't care about the extra skin.  However, I do and that is why I had the surgery.  I did this for me and I am glad that I did both the RNY and plastics surgery.
Well, I know this is long winded, but I just felt like using the laptop today and providing an update to let everyone know although I have been MIA, I am doing great!
Also, I started a Support Group that meets the 2nd Saturday of every month at the Kaiser in Orange on 200 Lewis (Chapman and Lewis across from Crystal Cathedral) on the 2nd floor in room #1.  You do not have to be a Kaiser member to attend this group.  The attendees and attendance for this meeting has been very good and well received. Our January guest speaker was for Aqua Aerobics and Physical Therapy.
Hugs

So Cal Coffee and Grandma Update

Oct 26, 2009

I missed the So Cal Coffee, Casino Night and a few other items on my calendar.  However, I got to see my grandchildren Caylin (4) and Caysie (2) and of course the newest addition, Crystina.
Jim and I drove MIL to San Diego on Friday night and then drove to Hesperia and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.  Saturday morning, October 24th, Jim and I finally got to meet our newest granddaughter, Crystina. She is so little and has lots of dark hair. After visiting, we packed up the car with Caylin and Caysie and headed to the San Diego Wild Animal and what a disappointment for Jim and me.  So much walking to see very little of the animals.  I so wished we would have gone to the zoo. After the Wild Animal Park, we drove back to OC with the grandchildren and spent some quality time with them.
Sunday morning, October 25th, we took Caylin and Caysie to Knotts Berry Farm to Camp Snoopy for a couple of hours of fun before driving them back to Victorville.  Both Caylin and Caysie fell asleep in their car seats before we even hit the 91 fwy.  LOL  They were sooooooooo tired!  Well, let me tell you we were too! Visited with my son, Chris and family for a while and then hit the road back to the OC.  YES, it was a lot of driving this weekend.  However, well worth it to see Crystina and spend time with Caylin and Caysie.
Monday finds me back at work with lots of stuff to do.
Hoping to make the next So Cal Coffee.
Hugs to All
