HAIR LOSS RANT

Let me start this off by saying, I AM thankful for my RNY. I was eating myself to death and I knew I had to take some drastic measures to get off that merry go round.
When I first planned my surgery I warned my friends and family that I might have days that I didn't feel well.. Or I might have some minor complications and be down for a while. In the back of my mind I really thought HA! I am not the type of person who will have any trouble... I really didn't think that those warnings applied to me, big mistake..HUGE!
I have had my complications.. Plus a few that might have belonged to someone else lol.. I've been back in the hospital three times,. I've had ulcers, intestinal problems and now my damn gallbladder needs to go. And to be honest I have been FINE with it all... Not what I would have chosen but, that's life, right?
Well today I had the final insult!! Just a little bit too much to keep smiling. My hair has been coming out pretty steadily for the last two months, to the point that my bed looks like a chemo patient sleeps here.. My bathroom is littered with the remnants of my shoulder length brown hair. SOOO I figured ok, it's time, I have to cut it. Under other cir****tances I probably would have been fine about it but I really have been unwell for the past two weeks and I think I just sort of lost my mind... The girl that cuts my hair pulled out a razor and started on the side and sliced half my hair off ...SWOOOOSH..and I started boohooing like a little sissy girl! I know!! It's just hair!! It will grow back!! I KNOW.... But I just feel so betrayed by my stupid body! And I'm so tired of feeling like crap and now my hair is gone. Whaaaa! End of rant

I am so sorry. I haven't been through what you have but I have had my share of problems. I am just now fixing to hit my third month and I am holding my breath. That seems to be when the hair loss begins. I have very thick hair. Even still I dread losing it. I have also because of my husbands preference worn it shoulder length or longer. I told him when it starts going I am cutting it rather short and keeping it like that for a year or so. I haven't had short hair since grade school and I am almost 47. I feel for you and will probably be on here ranting soon myself.
God Bless! It'll get better!

In sorry about your hair. I got my hair cut this weekend and the girl who usually does my hair was out so I had another girl do it. BIG MISTAKE! I have sideburns, like a boy. I'm a boy now.

I hear you.   From 3-7 months, I lost SOOOOoooo much hair...it was awful.  I had it cut really short and layered.  Luckily it's got some curl, so I could hide some of the bare spots.  I had to have bangs, because if I tried to pu**** back from my forehead, I showed a receding hairline just like a balding man.  At 9 months out, I'm finally starting to grow it a little longer.  It's started filling in just recently.

Aw, I'm sorry. It's not sissy to feel upset about your hair.

It will grow back, true. But that doesn't help you right now.  Do what you can to feel better and get a wig (or several) if it makes you feel better.

It's hard sometimes to keep a positive attitude when change is coming left, right, and center.

Excellent rant! Good style, nice punctuation, clear voice, accurate spelling, nice useage of an active voice, yes, indeedy, I give your rant a 10+!

You said it very well at the end of paragraph two...that's life, right? Or in French, c'est la vie. Hair is a renewable resource, you even said it yourself. So here's what I might suggest you do. Take a nap, or sleep soundly, when you wake up, get out your styling products, your curling irons, whatever implements you have and work your new style! Figure out what will and what won't work. Enjoy the new look, envision how it will look in a year or two. And keep smiling. Then, then when you finally tired of smiling, keep smiling, and then when that's too much of a burden, sigh. Because, unfortunately, you'll probably keep losing hair for a while and you'll have to deal with that too. But I think you are strong and ABLE and (now) rant-free (and probably have a cute style, even if you can't see it right at this moment).

Okay my pep talk is over (FWIW), your rant is over, let's go out there and kick some weight loss ass...okay?

Sorry for all of your complications and I can sympathize about the hair..well, haircut at least. I, too, went to a new hairdresser trying in earnest to explain what I wanted. I bawled like a baby when I looked in the mirror after she had finished. She had shaved my sides and back and left me a half inch on top!!! OMG!!! It will take all summer for it to grow back enough for me to be comfortable. I normally have a short  pixie style but this is waaaaay beyond. I want to hide!!! Thankfully, my hair loss is not apparent even though it seemed like I lost a lot. I hope after your gallbladder surgery you will be good to go for a long time. Good luck!!

I was losing my hair prior to surgery, the possiblity of that happening post-op really didn't phase me. Though I get irritated finding myself everywhere - the shower drain, the brush, sink, floor, clothes, phone at work.

I finally decided to get it cut and colored. I feel just as sassy as my dew.
