A glass of wine (or 2)

Hi all! I'm post op (almost 3 weeks) and with the holidays looming I know I'm bound to have a glass of wine... Besides the wasted calories and alcohol caused dehydration, is there a reason not to enjoy a glass of wine at the holiday table with everyone? Any tips or thoughts?

I waited almost a year before I touched alcohol (and was at my goal weight) and one glas**** me like a ton of bricks. If you drink (which you probably shouldn't) it will hit you HARD.

I would ask my doctor.  I wonder how your stomach will handle it.

My surgeon allowed alcohol sooner than most.  With that said, it will hit you fast and hard, be careful.

Out of curiosity, how soon did your doctor allow alcohol?

Once I was on solid foods, 7 weeks.  It really has to be an occasional thing.

This was the case with me. I was cleared for alcohol at 3 months post-op - as long as it was low-carb and no carbonation.

absolutely. Drink all you want as soon as you are ready for your weight loss to stop.

Hahaha, point made :) I know it's not the best idea, hence why I wanted to put it out there.

empty/wasted calories and dehydration aren't enough of a deterrent?

Christmas you will be 4 weeks and 4 days out, your stomach is still healing and alcohol might irritate it.

Your liver is working hard enough why make it work harder?

I would just avoid it and celebrate with a glass next year

Did you ask your Dr? what did he or she advise?
