Okay, here are some basic factual updates.... I am 5'5" tall. My highest weight as an adult was approximately 410 pounds with a BMI of 68.2. My first surgery weight was 380 with a BMI of 63.2.

During the first year, I was able to make it down to 242 pounds with a BMI of 40.2. Wow! Talking about a shrinking violet! I lost more than 119 inches in the first twelve months. The journey is definitely hard to believe without photos to refer to.

Over the course of my second year, I made it down to 176! Another Wow! I hadn't weighed this small since before I started high school.

A short lived success following a life-long goal of achieving a 40-day water-only fast. My body began to reclaim and hold on to every ounce I brought in after this time period. So, the scale began to show a slide.

During the spring of 2006 until this past November of 2008, I watched the scale numbers increase to about the highest I have been since surgery to about 285. I contemplated going through a selfish-fast to look good for my follow-up, or I could hold steady, behave myself and see what my surgeon said.

Thankfully, Dr. Higa, was wonderful. He sent me for an UGI (upper gastro-intestinal) series to see what's hapening on the inside. Come to find out I have been suffering with a hiatal hernia and severe GERD (reflux) - for who knows how long. The results also reported an open-ended stoma - listing it as an apparently failed gastric bypass surgery. Revision surgery was brought up. I was so thankful. My body responded so favorably the first time around, I mentioned I would hop up on the table as soon as he said the word.

I am currently waiting to hear back regarding hernia repair, etc. My husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said, "Surgery."
A revision surgery is in the works, I pray.

Currently, as of 12/10/2008, I weigh 268 pounds with a BMI of 44.6. I am slowly coming back down, but will need assistance.  Thank you for all the support.
