My plan said six weeks, but I waited much longer because I still have very little room for nonprotein foods. You should choose not to eat them until after you are meeting your protein goal. When there is so little space in your pouch, you can't afford to fill it with foods that have little to no protein.

I totally have to laugh!  I am just over 2 weeks out from my bypass and pickles are all I can think about!  I emailed my NUT and she did say 6 weeks also.  I realize pickles will have to be a treat item since it is all about the protein, but I know that I am hopeful they will work for me ( very minced) so I can have a little bit.  It is so interesting how much my food obsessions have kicked up during this process of physical recovery.  I see that I still will be working (maybe forever) on my emotional food addiction.  Best of luck to you and I hope you get a little pickle that goes a long way in your healthy eating :)

I'm 5 weeks and tried a small bite the other day and it wasn't good! I didn't throw up at all but it definitely hurt my stomach! I've been craving them too!!

My clinic suggested three months out for raw veggies. I waited until then to try them. They go down fine now :)

Try a little pickle juice. See if that satisfies the craving.

It was three months for me, but I was adding some pickle juice to my tuna salads long before that.  Pickle juice gives you the flavor you crave.
